Number
10 of the Baltic 50's has been sold to a central European client. The
general technology and concept for this project is very much along
the same lines as for the 50's number 8 and 9. This was using an Epoxy
Carbon vacuum laminate for the hull, deck and structural members. This project does have one specialty that makes it unique from the earlier Baltic 50's and that is the telescopic keel. Due to the shallow waters and tidal conditions in the location where this boat is going to be sailed, there is a need to be able to reduce the draft slightly to enable easier access to its home port during low tide. Opting for a full lifting keel would have resulted in an interior layout that would not be acceptable, hence a solution was investigated that would allow for a reduction of approx 0.6 m in draft without interference with the interior. The solution was a telescopic keel. |
